Wagner
Architecture is a small design-oriented architecture firm. The
principal, Brent Wagner, has been a registered architect for more than
20 years. Brent was born and raised in Valparaiso Indiana and attended
Ball State University, where he received a Bachelors of Architecture
Degree in 1985.
Always
attracted to Classic New England Architecture, Brent decided to move to
Maine after graduation. Brent soon took up residence on Peaks Island,
off the coast of Portland, from which he would commute by ferry to the
mainland. He gained hands-on experience working on his 1890’s ‘Cottage’
while practicing at Stephen Blatt Architects, where he worked on a
variety of Educational and Residential Projects.
While in Maine,
Brent met and married his wife Cathryn. They moved back to the
Valparaiso area in the mid 1990’s and started a family. Brent
established Brent Wagner Architects in Valparaiso in 1995, where he
remains active in the Valparaiso community. While they return to Peaks
Island each summer, Valparaiso is where the family calls home.
Brent was an
initial appointee to serve on Valparaiso's Historic Preservation
Commission, and historical acknowledgement is apparent in many of the
firm’s projects, reflecting Brent's early years spent apprenticing and
practicing in Portland, Maine. The firm also supports the local
affiliate of Habitat for Humanity where Brent served as President for
more than 10 years.
As the practice
continued to grow, architectural designer Jean Maczak joined the firm in
2003. Jean’s prior experience had been in the Product Design field,
specializing in new product development and prototyping. With her
background in Design and an affinity for technology, the firm has
continued to grow and keep pace with new methods and technologies in the
field.
In 2008 ‘Wagner
Architecture’ was launched to better describe the firm’s mission while
also celebrating a new office located in the Renovated ‘Murken
Building’. The move marked a rededication to serving the diverse needs
of our clients, contractors, and community. The Office is located at 54
Indiana Avenue, in historic downtown Valparaiso, Indiana, one half block
off the Court House Square.
